What Compas is
Compas is a free directory of every way to learn Welsh. It brings together courses, apps, books, podcasts, video, creators, communities, events, games, tools and more in one place, sorted by level and dialect.
Who makes it
Compas is made by Michael Ford, a Welsh learner in Llandeilo, and the team behind Tiwtor, an app for learning Welsh.
Impartiality
No one pays to be listed or ranked. Tiwtor is never an editor’s pick, and its listing carries an “Our app” label. The How we rank page explains the order.
National Centre courses
The National Centre for Learning Welsh’s courses are listed prominently, because they are where many learners start.
How we find listings
We research public sources — the providers’ own sites, app stores, learner forums and recommendations — and keep the evidence for every fact. Michael checks each listing before it goes live.
