Doctor Cymraeg

Doctor Cymraeg is the online name of Stephen Rule from Leeswood near Mold, who launched his social media platforms in 2020 to answer common questions about the Welsh language and make learning Welsh more accessible. The National Eisteddfod describes him as passionate about helping people at all levels lose their embarrassment about speaking Welsh. His public Instagram profile text is in Welsh and English, and his TikTok and Instagram videos and reels offer a glimpse into the Welsh language and its use alongside day-to-day tips. Alongside his social media videos, his website offers books he describes as the ones he wished he had when learning Welsh himself.

His accounts and links span Instagram (more than 90,000 followers), TikTok (more than 10,000 followers), YouTube (more than 2,000 subscribers), a Mastodon profile on toot.wales, another platform with more than 300 followers, and his own website. His YouTube channel has published new videos within the past three months. Doctor Cymraeg is recommended on the websites of Careers Wales, learnwelsh.cymru and Buzz Magazine, and was named in six learner posts on r/learnwelsh between 2024 and 2025.

Doctor Cymraeg suits learners at all levels who want answers to common questions about Welsh and day-to-day tips on social media. While his YouTube channel is active, his Mastodon profile on toot.wales has not posted since January 2023.
