Pigion

Pigion (Pigion: Uchafbwyntiau Radio Cymru i Ddysgwyr) is a BBC Radio Cymru programme and podcast for people learning Welsh and new Welsh speakers. It gives listeners a chance to hear highlights from BBC Radio Cymru programmes, with episodes typically lasting about 30 minutes and the Y Podlediad Dysgu Cymraeg feed page naming Aled Hughes and Nia Lloyd Jones. It is published through the BBC's Y Podlediad Dysgu Cymraeg feed on the BBC website, Apple Podcasts and RSS, with new episodes released within the past three months.

The podcast includes vocabulary support: the BBC programme page provides a glossary for learners, and the Welsh-language episode descriptions on Apple Podcasts translate each vocabulary item into English. In 2025, Buzz Magazine highlighted the Y Podlediad Dysgu Cymraeg feed for combining broadcast clips from the previous month with learner interviews, and Pigion was named in a learner post on r/learnwelsh the same year. The shared Apple Podcasts feed has more than 30 ratings, averaging 4.4 out of 5.

Pigion suits learners and new speakers who want to listen to real BBC Radio Cymru clips supported by an English-translated vocabulary list. It does not suit learners who want video or written lessons rather than a 30-minute audio podcast of radio highlights, or those who need episode descriptions written in English rather than Welsh. Episode descriptions are written in Welsh with English used only for the vocabulary translations, and no specific learner level is stated.
